You should never smack your weimaraner. They will never forget it. We do things like time outs. For instance if they jump up on you, and at some point they will, you should just turn your back to them. They hate to be ignored and if you turn away from them they soon will learn thats not the reaction they want from you. They are highly intelligent and very quick to learn new things. I am still shocked every time we learn a new trick at how fast they catch on. Mine respond very well to treats. They will do almost anything for a treat. Including getting in the bathtub. They aren't usually very eager for bath time.
